Venus Williams Earns Business Degree
Venus Williams has graduated from college! The 35-year-old tennis pro recently received a business degree from Indiana University East’s four-year online program. According to the Indy Star, Williams earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration on August 14 after completing her final courses this summer.
"I’ve learned so much," the new graduate said in an IU East press release. "It was always my dream to have a business degree, and I ended up going to art school so many times, but in the back of my head I felt like I needed the tools to be a better leader, to be a better planner, to be better at all of the things I wanted to do in my businesses because I’m so hands-on."
Williams is sure to use her experiences as she continues to grow her active-wear line, EleVen. Her enrollment in IU East’s online program back in 2011 was part of a partnership between the school and the Women’s Tennis Benefits Association to be “the primary provider for baccalaureate online degree completion programs for WTA players,” said IU East Chancellor Kathryn Cruz-Uribe. Williams is the first to graduate under this program.
"It was just a wonderful experience," Williams said. "I love being a Red Wolf. I love this school, and I’m so happy to be a part of it."
