Young Thug Facing New Charges Over Alleged ‘Drug Deal’ In Courtroom
Young Thug and a co-defendant in his Young Slime Life RICO case are reportedly facing new charges after an alleged hand-to-hand drug deal in court while jury selection was taking place.
According WAGA, the state’s clarification of the record obtained by the Atlanta local news station explains the allegations against the rapper, born Jeffrey Lamar Williams, and Kahlieff Adams.
On Wednesday (January 18), officials say Adams, who is currently serving life without parole for murder, provided Thug with a Percocet pill while the rapper was sitting next to his attorney in court.
Security video posted on Twitter by WSB-TV reporter Michael Seiden seems to show the alleged drug exchange. Authorities accuse Adams of passing Thugger the drug and walking away after approaching the rapper from behind and reaching out his hand.
WAGA reports that after the alleged exchange took place, deputies with the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office stepped in and took the drug from Thug and confronted Adams. A search of the latter revealed that he had Percocet, marijuana, tobacco, and other contraband wrapped in plastic and food seasons to mask the smell, officials allege.
Adams was also taken to Grady Hospital after deputies say he appeared to eat other items of contraband to attempt to remove the evidence.
"Court was delayed solely because of Defendant Williams' and Defendant Adams' illegal acts of possession and distribution, respectively, of contraband inside the Fulton County Courthouse," the state said in its court document, according to WAGA.
Adams now faces possession of a schedule II controlled substance, two counts of willful obstruction of law enforcement, possession of marijuana less than an ounce, and possession of an alcoholic beverage by an inmate.
