YoungBoy NBA Sentenced to 23 Months for Felony Gun Possession

The Baton Rouge rapper will additionally serve five years probation and has been ordered to pay a $200,000 fine.

YoungBoy Never Broke Again has been sentenced following pleading guilty to two counts of felony in possession of a firearm.

On Tuesday, December 10, the Baton Rouge rapper was sentenced to 23 months in prison, concluding his 2020 firearms case three weeks after he entered a guilty plea to charges of a drug ring that allegedly was run out of his Utah home. While he will not serve time behind bars on the drug charges due to a previous plea, YoungBoy, born Kentrell Gaulden, was ordered to pay a $25,000 fine.

According to Baton Rouge outlet WBRZ, in his agreement with federal prosecutors, he admitted to carrying a Glock 21 .45-caliber pistol and a Masterpiece Arms MPA30T 9mm handgun during a music video shoot in September 2020. The 25-year-old added that he had a Sig Sauer 9mm semi-automatic handgun at his Huntsville, Utah, residence in April 2024, which he agreed to surrender along with his other firearms.

In addition to releasing his weapons, the rapper agreed to a five-year probation period following time served and paid a $200,000 fine.

YoungBoy fought the Baton Rouge firearms case in Louisiana's U.S. Middle District Court for over three years. He agreed to the case's transfer to the federal court in Salt Lake City in August and is currently on house arrest in Utah as part of his plea agreement for the federal gun case. Due to his alleged involvement in a Miami shooting in 2019, the rapper has been residing in Salt Lake City, Utah, since then.

YoungBoy’s most recent album, ‘I Just Got a Lot on My Shoulders,’ was released on December 5.
