Beloved KCBS/KCAL News Anchor Chauncy Glover Dies at 39
Chauncy Glover, an Emmy Award-winning journalist and esteemed news anchor for KCBS and KCAL in Los Angeles, has passed away at the age of 39. His family announced his death on November 6, 2024, though the cause has not been disclosed.
Born in Athens, Alabama, in 1985, Glover's passion for journalism was evident from a young age. He pursued studies in Broadcast Journalism, Music, and Theatre at Troy University, also earning a degree in Public Relations. His television career began shortly after graduation at WTVM News Leader 9 in Columbus, Georgia. He later held positions at CBS 47 and Fox 30 in Jacksonville, Florida, and WDIV Local 4 News in Detroit, Michigan. In 2015, Glover joined KTRK ABC-13 in Houston, Texas, where he served as a weekend morning anchor before being promoted to main evening anchor in 2018. In October 2023, he joined the KCAL News team in Los Angeles, co-anchoring the 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts on KCBS and KCAL.
Throughout his career, Glover was recognized for his compelling storytelling and dedication to community service. He received multiple Emmy Awards and was honored by the National Association of Black Journalists with the Angelo B. Henderson Community Service Award. In 2014, he founded the Chauncy Glover Project, a nonprofit organization providing mentorship focused on education, manhood, and self-empowerment to Black and Latino youth.
Glover's sudden passing has elicited an outpouring of tributes from colleagues and viewers alike, who remember him as a dedicated journalist and a compassionate individual committed to making a positive impact in the communities he served.
He is survived by his parents, Robert and Sherry Glover, who reside in Madison, Alabama. Funeral arrangements are pending, and the family has requested privacy during this difficult time.
