How To Glow On Your Wedding Day—You'll Never Believe How Simple It Is!

Experts share the tips you need to know.

Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life! With that being said, you want nothing to get in the way of the happy occasion. Even if things are not absolutely perfect you still want to look beautiful, stress-free, and glowing.

Speaking of the dewy look– a bride's radiance is the next best thing to a pregnancy glow and we all want to achieve it. So how does one get that beautiful bridal glimmer? According to experts, it starts with the staying calm and diving into your beauty routine.

“Our skin is our biggest organ and when you are stressed your nervous system releases stress hormones like cortisol into your body. Cortisol causes increased oil production making unwanted pimples appear,” explains certified master esthetician, Jazmin Walker. “Stress can also cause bags under your eyes and some have even experience rashes due to anxiety. In order look your best, you want to make sure you stay stress free!”

While many soon-to-be-brides have sleepless nights worrying about everything up to the honeymoon, Walker advises that the bride does whatever she can to get a good night's rest, along with committing to a makeup detox. “I highly suggest that brides stay away from make up the week leading up to the big day,” says Walker.

She adds, “This will minimize the possibility of getting a breakout. The soon-to-be bride should also hydrate under the eyes with a mask so that she looks bright-eyed on her big day. In addition, be sure to hydrate your skin by making sure you have a great moisturizer.”

We also spoke to Ulta Beauty Pro Team Member and makeup artist Deney Adam to find out his secret recipe to getting the perfect wedding glow. Keep scrolling to get his tips on achieving the dewy look. We even added a few notes of our own!

  • Start With Hydration & Plenty Of Rest

Good health starts within. It may sound cliché, but the best way to ensure a healthy and radiant glow on your big day starts with getting plenty of rest and ensuring your body is well hydrated. Remember, don’t let yourself become so distracted with the planning process that you forget to care for yourself.

  • Prioritize Your Skincare Routine

If you haven’t already, now is a great time to prioritize your skincare routine. To keep your skin hydrated throughout the day, Adam personally suggests trying Nude Sugar’s The Creém, which features a proprietary blend of oils. “I love how it keeps your skin hydrated and glowing from head to toe with its unique blend of oils and honey extract,” the expert makeup artist tells us.

He also suggests trying Keys Soulcare Let Me Glow Illuminating Serum to prep your face for your big day. “It has a sheer golden tint that complements all skin tones while brightening the skin,” Adam tells us about the serum that’s dermatologist-developed to hydrate and smooth skin’s appearance.

  • Apply Sunscreen

If you’re planning a beautiful outdoor wedding, Adam reminds us to ensure your skin is protected with sunscreen. “Prior to makeup application, SPF is a must. Try Black Girl Sunscreen Moisturizing Sunscreen Lotion for face and body,” he tells us before letting us in on the following expert tip. “In place of a primer, use this lotion under your foundation to help your look last!”

Walker adds, "You should always make sure you have a solid skincare regimen in which you discussed with your dermatologist or esthetician. A skincare professional will tell you exactly what kind of a moisturizer is right for your skin! Moisture reduces irritation, inflammation, plumps the skin, and just leaves the skin looking vibrant, glowy."

When it comes to finding the perfect foundation, seek the help of a professional who can help you seamlessly match your skin tone. Adam also suggests finding a waterproof foundation that can outlast tears and sweat caused by you getting down on the dance floor.

The editorial MUA encourages trying Fenty’s Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Liquid Foundation, which boasts long-lasting coverage.

  • Don’t Shy Away From Bronzer

To get the desired sun-kissed look without spending hours in the sun, turn to a bronzer. If applied properly, bronzer can quickly give you the wedding glow you are looking for!

Adam says Mented Cosmetics’ Sunkissed Bronzer is the perfect way to get your glow up. To add “dimension” to your look try Mented Cosmetics’ Sunkissed Highlighter Palette, which is a one-stop shop for those who want to add a gorgeous glow to their wedding glam.
