Kodak Black Will No Longer Perform ‘Super Gremlin’ Due To His Sobriety Journey
Kodak Black is taking his sobriety journey seriously.
During a recent Instagram Live session, the South Florida native announced that he will no longer perform his chart-topping hit “Super Gremlin” due to his sobriety journey, as it included a line he regrets about Percocets.
“I’m about to stop performing ‘Super Gremlin,’ period. I hate that lil’ s**t,” Kodak said. “I’m sober — for the most part… Like Batman, I couldn’t have waited ’til, like, Saturday [to take drugs]. Now, I can wait a few days.”
He continued, “It was like a n**ga was scared to be sober or something… Now, I can do that. I can go two days without nothing, homie… That’s motivation for n**gas to feel like if the Gremlin can do it, y’all can do it.”
In “Super Gremlin,” released in 2022, Kodak rapped, “I knew the Perc’ was fake, but I still ate it ‘cause I’m a gremlin.” During a concert last week, he explained to his fans why he regretted that line and admitted that taking a fake Percocet could have killed him.
“It’s sad though, bruh, because it’s like that shit — the bar came to mind so quick,” the 27-year-old told the crowd. “I’m like, ‘Damn, I don’t wanna say this s**t, but I know this bitch gon’ go in.’ But we ain’t gon’ play like that, bruh. When I was at my stage, chewing on them Percs, I ain’t gonna say I popped them b**ches.”
He added, “But when I was at my stage, I was chewing like — bruh, I swear to God and my n**gas will vouch — I was chewing 100 Percs a day, man. Average like 40. Average! If I was fucking with them fake shits, bruh, I’d have been dead. Bruh, I say that, I’m explaining myself now. I don’t want y’all to hear that and take that and feel like it’s okay to do that s**t, ya feel me?”
