Aretha Franklin Rests After "Highly Successful" Surgery

All is well with Aretha Franklin.

The legendary soul singer—named the greatest vocalist of all time by Rolling Stone magazine—is resting after a "highly successful" surgery in Detroit yesterday (November 2). The nature of Franklin's surgery has yet to be revealed.

"God is still in control," Franklin told her fans via a statement. "I had superb doctors and nurses who were blessed by all the prayers of the city and the country."

The Queen of Soul's fans congregated for a prayer vigil, led by city councilwoman Joann Watson, held in Detroit on Wednesday night. As previously reported, Franklin checked into Detroit's Sinai Grace Hospital at the recommendation of her doctors back in early November. The singer of R&B classics like "Respect" and "Rock Steady" cancelled a number of performances after suffering two broken ribs and abdominal pain after a fall.
