Whoopi Goldberg Jokes About Her Three Failed Marriages on ‘The View’
Even in the area of love, longtime comedian Whoopi Goldberg has mastered turning missteps into punchlines.
During a recent episode of her daytime talk show, “The View,” the 69-year-old star poked fun at her three failed marriages while discussing public relationships and divorce with her co-hosts. The topic was sparked by WWE star Nikki Garcia’s comments about her divorce from “Dancing with the Stars” alum Artem Chigvintsev after nearly three years of marriage.
While responding to co-host Rachel Lindsay, who is also going through a divorce, Goldberg candidly shared her experience, joking, “I’ve been married 100 times, and I could never get it right. You got it right for four years. Good.” She added, “Some people don’t get it right the first or second or even the third time. It’s not for everybody.”

“So before you kick your own butt, remember marriage is not a monolith, and you never know. And you might have seen signs, and you thought, ‘Well, okay, we’ll get used to each other to be all right’ … All you can fix is you,” she said.
Goldberg, whose marriages to Alvin Martin, David Claessen, and Lyle Trachtenberg all ended in divorce, reflected on the complexities of marriage and shared her insight. She has a 49-year-old daughter, Alexandrea, from her marriage to Martin.
