Wife Of Former NFL Star Kellen Winslow Jr. Files For Divorce
Kellen Winslow Jr.’s wife has reportedly moved to split from her ex-NFL star husband.
Janelle Winslow filed a petition for divorce in San Diego County Superior Court on August 30, just three months after Kellen was convicted of raping a 58-year-old homeless woman and masterbating in front of a 77-year-old woman.
The couple have been married since 2006 and share an eight-year-old son and five-year-old daughter.
According to FOX5, an attorney for Winslow Jr. confirmed the filing and says the couple will be seeking an amicable and private dissolution of their marriage.
Winslow, a former tight end for the Cleveland Browns and Tampa Bay Buccaneers among other teams, was found guilty of forcible rape stemming from a May 2018 incident with a homeless woman. He was also guilty of lewd conduct involving two other women, indecent exposure to a separate woman and lewd conduct regarding another accuser.
On September 30, Winslow Jr. faces a retrial on eight other charges that the jury was deadlocked on. If convicted on all of the remaining charges, he faces up to life in prison.
Weeks after Winslow Jr.’s 2018 arrest, Janelle and Kellen Winslow Sr. issued a joint statement proclaiming he was innocent of all alleged crimes.
“On behalf of our son and my husband, we want to reiterate our love, support and affection for him during this difficult process,” the two said in a statement. “We will always be there for him and we know the true facts will come out.”
The couple reportedly put their Encinitas, California mansion on the market in March of this year for $2.995 million.
