Drake Asks If He’s ‘Finally’ Nigerian After Learning Dad’s Ancestry
After years of wondering, Grammy Award-winning rapper Drake has finally learned about his connection to the Nigerian community.
Over the weekend, the “Rich Flex” rapper took to Instagram to share a screenshot of his dad Dennis Graham’s ancestry report, which revealed that 30 percent of his ethnic makeup derived from Nigeria. “This is my dad’s results,” Drake captioned in the post. “Does this mean I’m a Naija man finally?”
The Canada-born rapper shared that his father was also 28 percent Cameroonian and Congolese and had roots in several other places, including Ivory Coast, Ghana, England, Northwestern Europe, Scotland and more.
Many social media users have reacted to the announcement, with some writing, “Drake's afrobeats album incoming.”
In the meantime, fans of the “Jimmy Cooks” rapper can catch him on the It's All A Blur tour with frequent collaborator 21 Savage. Drake recently added 12 new dates to the run of North America shows while rescheduling others. The additional shows will take place in cities including Memphis, Columbus, Milwaukee and Toronto.
