News outlets are reporting that two separate violent incidents — a shooting and stabbing — occurred on Saturday night and early Sunday at Los Angeles events that were held in anticipation of tonight's BET Awards. On Saturday night, a man was stabbed at Lure Nightclub in Hollywood; and the Los Angeles Police Department reported today on a shooting at a Hollywood party early Sunday morning that left one person dead and four others injured. 
The events at which the tragic incidents occurred were in no way affiliated with the BET Awards or BET Experience, a rep for the network clarifies in a statement.
"The three isolated incidents over the weekend occurred at locations with events that were unauthorized and unaffiliated with the BET Awards, BET Experience at L.A. LIVE or their partners," the statement reads.

"Security remains the number one priority for all official BET events and the network and all organizers will continue to maintain a safe environment for all planned activities."
The BET Awards took place Sunday night at 8P/7C at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles and were hosted by Chris Rock.
