Hip Hop Awards 2022: 5 Of Kendrick Lamar’s Best Moments In BET Hip Hop Awards History
Kendrick Lamar could be considered one of hip hop's greatest rhymers. And there's no doubt that every time he's graced the Hip Hop Awards stage, he brought some heat.
As we gear up for this year's show, let's take a walk down memory lane and look at some of his best appearances.
2013 CYPHER
Kendrick’s night at the BET Hip Hop Awards 2013 was one for the books. Coming off the cusp of his 2012 classic, Good Kid., m.A.A.d. City (GKMC) and calling the rap industry on Big Sean's "Control," his 14 nominations only seemed right.
The night was set in stone, however, during the TDE cypher, the platinum-selling rapper doubled down on his” Control” verse, seemingly taking a shot directly at Drake.

2012 Lyricist of the Year
Kendrick’s first Lyricist of the Year award win at the BET Hip Hop Awards 2012 was special, not only because he beat out veterans like Nas and Jay-Z, but because he also took out high-ranking peers like J Cole.
What’s most impressive is that he hadn’t even released his debut studio album yet. This award came off the hype he created from his indie project, Section.80 and a couple of singles.
Kendrick would go on to win the coveted award five more times: in 2014, 2015, 2016 and in 2018.
‘Alright’ Wins Best Video at BET Hip Hop Awards 2015
Kendrick’s win for Best Video at the BET Hip Hop Awards 2015 is significant because it confirmed his genius went beyond pen and pad and is a testament to how much time he puts into every facet of his work.
Well north of 100 million views, the video still stands the test of time till this day.

TDE Performs At The BET Hip Hop Awards 2013
