Director Compares Jennifer Lawrence's Schedule to 12 Years a Slave
There's no doubt Jennifer Lawrence is one of the hardest working actresses in Hollywood, but her American Hustle director David O. Russell maybe overreached when he compared her Hunger Games work schedule to slavery.
“I’ll tell you what it is about that girl — talk about 12 years of slavery, that’s what the franchise is," Russell tells the New York Daily News. "And I’m going to get in so much trouble for saying that.”
“I personally think they should give her a bit of breathing room over there because they’re printing money,” he says, adding that Lawrence takes art house roles as a "vacation" from the "hamster wheel" that is Hunger Games.
The Oscar winner has starred in two Hunger Games films, with two more coming out. Hunger Games was Lawrence's first major Hollywood role after her leading role in the indie hit Winter's Bone. Lawrence was reportedly paid $10 million for Hunger Games: Catching Fire. The film is a global hit, grossing over $1 billion worldwide.
