Women's History Month: Laverne Cox Continues To Inspire Us To Be Brave And Bold
Actress, activist, and E! Red carpet host Laverne Cox is pioneering her way through Hollywood. She has broken countless barriers on the big screen, television, and magazine publishing.
Cox’s command of the screen was first noticed as a contestant on the VH1 reality TV show; I Want to Work for Diddy. Since then, she has appeared in numerous shows, including Orange Is the New Black, which earned her several Emmy nominations and a Screen Actor’s Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy.

The Alabama native is also an award-winning executive producer. In 2015 she earned a Daytime Emmy Award for Laverne Cox Presents: The T Word, which followed the lives of young, transgender people navigating a society that often sidelines their existence. Cox was the first transgender woman to win the award.
In addition to her acting and executive-producing credits, Cox is also a podcaster. In 2021 she launched “The Laverne Cox Show” with Shondaland Audio and iHeart Radio.
