Joel Osteen's Church Had Collection Plates During Service And People Went In
After feeling overwhelming pressure to open its doors to house thousands in need of relief, Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church tripped over another PR landmine.
Apparently, someone thought it’d be a great idea to pass around collection plates during services on Wednesday (August 30), even though the audience consisted of hundreds of people who lost their homes, belongings and even loved ones.
There’s actually video proof of this, too. Below is video of the service and at the end, you can see the collection plates start to make their way to the audience.
This comes after the aforementioned first blunder, which had Lakewood initially denying folks in need of shelter access to the church because they claimed it was flooding. Subsequently, locals did their own investigation and called BS on all excuses, which then publicly forced the church to open its doors.
