André Discusses The Possibility of a New Outkast Album
André 3000 has shared his thoughts on the possibility of a new Outkast album.
In an interview with Hanif Abdurraqib for “Bitter Southerner,” the hip-hop icon said that he and Big Boi will always be cool no matter what is happening with them musically.
“We cool, man. That’s my homie forever. We were friends before doing music,” André said, adding that “people always ask about me and Big Boi.”
He also said that the question he’s asked the most is if there will be a new Outkast project.
“People ask, so will there be another OutKast album? I really can’t say, man. I do realize that our chemistries have changed,” he said. “We’re different people. We’re totally different people.”
“Not to say that we won’t be able to make any kind of music, but I think, yeah, people have to realize, like even in relationships, man, husband and wife, chemistry should change after a while,” André continued. “And I think people think there’s this one thing that has to stay away, but we are ever-changing, man.”
André also spoke about how he caught a lot of his fans off guard with his instrumental album which was released in November 2023.
“But I just want people to hear and to see and feel the movement, to see and feel the change, the journey of it. You know what I mean?” he quipped. “To me, that’s the biggest story. If I’m on the outside looking in, how do you come from this to this? You know what I mean? I want people to see that part.”
Hailed one of the most legendary groups in the history of hip-hop, Outkast has sold 20 million records worldwide. As a duo, they released six studio albums and a compilation album and won six Grammy Awards including Album of the Year and Best Rap Album for Speakerboxxx/The Love Below at the 46th Grammy Awards in 2004
In March, André reunited with Big Boi on his New Blue Sun tour in Atlanta.
The performance marked the first time they were on stage as Outkast since 2016 when they played the ONE Musicfest in Atlanta.
