The vehicle was impounded and discovered methamphetamine and other drug-related material inside the vehicle. The “Talk To Me” singer was arrested and booked for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. DeBarge was later released from custody, committing to his future citation appearance.

On January 13, DeBarge was charged with DUI, drug possession and even an impersonation charge for pretending to be his older brother, James DeBarge. When cops pulled the 80s singer over, he didn’t have an identification present. He also had two female passengers present. He spent 10 days in jail before making bond.

DeBarge has admittedly struggled with drug addiction for years. He was also arrested two other times for drug possession: 2007 and 2019. The DeBarge brothers’ struggles with drug possession and addiction dates back to the 80s, during some of their most prominent entertainment years.

On Oct. 21, it was reported that Tommy DeBarge passed away due to kidney failure. Tommy and brother Bobby (Robert) DeBarge were the founding members of the R&B group Switch. They eventually left the band to mentor their younger brothers and sister for the DeBarge group.
