In this episode of Millennial Love Stories, BET Sistas actors Skyh Alvester Black and KJ Smith discuss what it's like dating in the age of social media—the show and tell generation. 

While most couples post flashy gifts from their significant others on birthdays and holidays, the couple's thoughtful approach to gift-giving takes us back to a time when love didn't cost a thing. 

We sat down with the couple to discuss how they met and how to score a meaningful gift, which boils down to just things: listen and observe. 

To come up with the money to purchase a flight to LA, Skyh revealed he sold the saxophone his grandfather brought him on his eleventh birthday but promised himself he would repurchase the alto sax one day. He never got the opportunity because KJ beat him to it. 

"I was talking to her about it when we first, first started dating and she found the sax and bought it. And I was blown away. I just had tears down my face," said KJ. "I think millennials put too much pressure on themselves to get the gifts that they think their partner wants because of the impact of social media," said Kj. "It's not about you feeling validated." 

"I've seen people affected more by a card than from a bottle of perfume," adds KJ.
