Busta Rhymes Joins Cast of ‘Naked Gun’ Reboot
Rap legend Busta Rhymes has been tapped to be a part of the Naked Gun, reboot reports Deadline.
Liza Koshy, WWE Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes, and CCH Pounder have also been announced as cast members of the upcoming film.
Liam Neeson, Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter Hauser, Kevin Durand, and Danny Huston had previously been confirmed to star in the reboot. Neeson will play Detective Frank Drebin and Hauser will play the role of his partner Ed. Although it has not been confirmed, it has been rumored that Durand will portray the villain in the film.
The reboot is set to premiere in theaters on July 18, 2025.
Starring Leslie Nielsen as Detective Drebin, the original “Naked Gun” film franchise followed the hilarious investigator as he fumbles his way into solving cases. The three films in the franchise, The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! (1988), The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear (1991), and Naked Gun 33⅓: The Final Insult (1994) have made more than $477M.
In addition to his iconic career as a rapper, Busta Rhymes has amassed several film and TV credits as an actor. He has appeared in Higher Learning, Narc, Finding Forrester, Shaft, and Halloween: Resurrection. He also has had roles on The Wayans Bros, and Fresh Off the Boat, Master of None.
Along with Ciara and Timbaland, Busta Rhymes is heading out on tour with Missy Elliott for the “OUT OF THIS WORLD — The Missy Elliott Experience” launching July 4.
