Q-Tip and Busta Rhymes Announce Joint Mixtape
Q-Tip and Busta Rhymes are joining forces for a new mixtape titled The Abstract and The Dragon, out next week.
Bussa Buss announced the collaboration via social media Tuesday (Dec. 3) tweeting, "BREAKING NEWS! IT'S OFFICIAL! 1ST TIME EVER! BRAND NEW @BustaRhymes & @QtipTheAbstract MIXTAPE!"
The project's artwork, also posted online, features a dragon stenciled in red and green coloring courtesy of artist Mathew Vu.
In his "The Truth" interview with Elliott Wilson, Tip detailed working with Busta on the track "Thank You," featuring Kanye West and Lil Wayne. "Busta came to my studio and we was just vibin' and he played some joints, and he played that and I was like 'Yo, what's that?'" Tip said.
The A Tribe Called Quest member not only jumped on the record but encouraged Busta to add 'Ye and Weezy. The music video for "Thank You" has been viewed more than a million times online already, grabbing fan's attention with an old-school beat and flow adhered to by all four rappers.
He also has two other big releases on deck. Tip recently announced production work on West's Yeezus follow-up and has his own project, The Last Zulu, due soon.
The Abstract and The Dragon drops Dec. 12.
