The late Father of Rock 'n Roll Chuck Berry's music lives on as his final album was released on Friday.

The LP, simply titled Chuck, features a wide range of tracks including a tribute to his wife, a live performance at the famous Duck Room in St. Louis and a sequel to "Johnny B. Goode." 

Joe Edwards, Berry's longtime friend and the owner of Blueberry Hill, spoke on the release of the legend's final body of work and even shared an interesting story on how it came to be.

"This album is a long time coming. He'd been working on it for years," he told KSDK. "The original tapes were all burned up in a fire, so he just started recreating it and fine-tuning the songs, and the world has the final gift, his final album. Wow!"

Edwards was not exaggerating when noting that the album was a long-lasting labor of love as Berry reportedly worked on this new music from 1991 until 2014. 

"He loved St. Louis and he loved playing at Blueberry Hill," Edwards continued. "One night we were reminiscing and he turned to me and said, 'Joe, I'd like to play a place the size of places when I was just starting out.' And we looked at each other for a half-second and we said, 'Let's do it! Let's do it at Blueberry Hill!' And that's the beginning of that legendary series, 209 concerts."

Berry passed away at the age of 90 earlier this year.

His album, Chuck, is currently available in stores and online.
