Walmart Is Now Offering Mental Health Therapy Sessions

Starting Sept. 13, patients will be able to set up appointments using Walmart Health.

Have you ever been in Walmart and had an urge to spill out all your pent-up thoughts and desires, a.k.a. the real reason for your shopping trip? If so, Walmart is in the process of making it possible!

According to CNBC, the world’s biggest retailer is diving deeper into the primary care and mental health market with plans to open a new clinic called Walmart Health

Honestly, this really shouldn’t come as shock since Walmart has positioned itself as one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the United States — even going as far as to lease out space in Texas stores to a third-party behavioral health company in 2018. The retailer may also be continuing to try to get in the public's good graces after first discontinuing all sales of handgun ammunition and short-barrel rifle ammunition.

While the concept is still being tested, the new clinic, offering comprehensive and low-cost primary care, will open to the public next month in Dallas, GA, with hopes to expand to other locations in the future.

Starting Sept. 13, patients will be able to set up appointments to see on-site health providers and nurses for a list of services including; primary care, dental, counseling, labs, vision and hearing tests, immunizations, X-rays, and more using the Walmart Health website.

“Walmart is committed to making healthcare more affordable and accessible for customers in the communities we serve,” a Walmart spokesperson said. “The new Walmart Health center in our Dallas, Georgia, store will provide low, transparent pricing for key health services for local customers. We look forward to sharing more details when the facility opens next month.”

According to Walmart Health’s website, walk-ins are available and they accept most major insurance providers. But if you're without insurance, Care Clinic services will typically range from $59 - $99 per visit.

Feeling a little uneasy about sitting in a 60-minute counseling session inside an overcrowded Walmart? Not to worry, to ease your privacy concerns, the clinic will be a separate building next door to a Walmart store.

Well played, Walmart!

Are we the only ones hoping the clinics' waiting rooms won't be like their lines? No, seriously.
