Empire star Grace Gealy is known for her short coif, but with summer '16 underway, looks like she was ready for a change.

Gealey showed off her brand-new medium-thick box braids while filming in Chicago, and it looks like her co-star and hubby Trai Byers approves.

Gealey looks absolutely beautiful with the new braids and is giving us major Denise Huxtable vibes with her new look:

We'll have to wait and see when Gealey's braids make an appearance in the upcoming season of Empire.
