Have You Seen Rachel Dolezal's Art?

Former NAACP chapter president received her MFA from Howard University.

By now, we've read about Rachel Dolezal and her racial identity, her leadership of the Spokane, Wash., NAACP chapter and her discrimination lawsuit against Howard University.
But what about her artistic talents?
She received her master's degree in art from the HBCU in 2002. She also taught an experimental art course as a student-teacher while attending the school.
“She was a good teacher and never came off as ‘trying’ to be black to me,” Shannon Washington, one of her classmates, told Jezebel. “She was Rachel, a white woman who could paint really well. She painted Black people but, being at Howard, I saw it as her painting the world around her. No one asked about her ethnicity because we didn’t need to. No one assumed she was black.”
On her personal website, she shares some of her work, which ranges from paintings to sculptures of Black culture. See a few examples below.

This piece is titled "The Great Escape" and is made with deerhide, oil paint and pastels. "My son calls this piece, 'The KKK Stuck in the Brown Space,' which may be better than the original title," Dolezal said.

"I used pieces from clothing, sports, national geo, & other magazines to bring together different 'pieces' of the earth & the human experience, in this face of our mother as a tribute to the Motherland," she said on her website.

Dolezal used elkhides and acrylic paint to make this piece, which she priced at $10,000.
