Fresh off the announcement of Slaughterhouse's singing with Eminem's Shady Records, Detroit MC Royce Da 5'9 is juggling more than one upcoming project. This morning, rapradar.com broke the news that Eminem and Royce are releasing a collaborative EP.
In a statement, Eminem explained how the new project came to be. "Royce and I started hanging out again, and inevitably that led us back into the studio. At first, we were just seeing where it went without any goal in mind, but the songs started to come together crazy so here we are," he said.
The EP is inspired by the 1999 Eminem song featuring Royce Da 5'9 titled "Bad Meets Evil," which is the name the duo now goes by. Royce tells BET.com that being back in the studio with Eminem is giving him "a second wind in his career." He added, "It’s like a new excitement. Similar to the way I felt when I got in studio with Slaughterhouse for the first time. It lets me know that I’m not as good as I thought I was. It brings more out of me and it inspires me to want to do better, and every artist needs that."
Royce is balancing the June 14 release of Bad Meets Evil EP, as well as being in the studio with Slaughterhouse for the supergroup's Shady Records debut. He will drop his own solo album Success Is Certain on July 26.
