A grand jury has indicted a police officer who shot and killed Anthony Hill, a 27-year-old African-American man, near Atlanta in March 2014.

Officer Robert Olsen was indicted on six different counts Thursday, including two felony murder charges, two counts of violating his oath of office and one count of aggravated assault and making a false statement, the New York Times reports.

Hill was a passionate musician and U.S. Air Force Veteran who was having a mental episode, his family says. He was naked, running and "crawling around" his apartment complex in Dekalb, Georgia, when Officer Robert Olsen opened fire on him. 
Olsen reportedly encountered Hill in a parking lot. He reportedly ran toward Olsen who ordered Hill to stop. The officer then shot Hill two times. At the time, Hill was unarmed and his family says he posed no threat to the officer.
There is also a wrongful death lawsuit pending that was filed by his family members.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was asked to look into whether the officer used unnecessary force on Hill, when the officer had pepper spray available. The family also launched their own investigation following the incident. The family of Anthony Hill wanted him to be remembered as a compassionate individual who was pursuing his musician dreams and served his country as a U.S. Air Force veteran. 
There have been several incidents involving African-American women and men with mental illnesses who have been killed after having encounters with police officers. In January, Mathew Ajidabe died after police placed him in a restraining chair while he was a having a manic episode.
