Jamie Foxx is Filled with ‘Pure Joy’ After Taking the Stage Following April 2023 Health Scare

The comedian clarified that the recent performance was not a standup special.

Jamie Foxx’s life took a dramatic turn after he experienced a health scare in April of last year. However, following his recent one-man show, where he opened up about this previously private situation, the Oscar winner says he’s feeling nothing but pure joy.

On Monday morning (October 14), the “Django Unchained” star took to Instagram to share insights from his show, “One More Chance: An Evening with Jamie Foxx,” during which he discussed the incident for the first time.

In a lengthy and heartfelt post, the veteran actor expressed his emotions surrounding the experience. With accompanying snapshots from his performance in Atlanta, the 56-year-old actor wrote, “God is good…. As I post these pictures, my heart and my soul is filled with nothing but pure joy… on October 3, 4, and 5, I had an opportunity to tell my side of the story, and there was no better place than Atlanta, Georgia.”

He continued with gratitude, saying, “I have to thank you, Atlanta. You showed up and you showed out. I haven’t been on stage in 18 years, but I needed the stage, and I needed an audience that was made up of nothing but pure love, and that’s what you were.”

The “In Living Color” star clarified: “When people ask me if this is a stand-up comedy show, I say, 'No, it’s an artistic explanation.'”

“Of some thing that went terribly wrong, but thanks to the great people in Atlanta especially piedmont hospital you enabled me to come back and be on stage and do what I love to do the most…” he concluded.

It’s still unclear what exactly transpired. However, in July, Foxx shared that his illness began with a “bad headache,” and then he was “Gone for 20 days.” At the time, the actor said he didn’t remember anything.
