BET News Presents 50: The March & The Movement

BET and Centric will be broadcasting the commemorative events, live from Washington, D.C., with host Ed Gordon and reporter Melissa Knowles.

On August 28, 1963, history was made in front of the Lincoln Memorial when people of all backgrounds came together in support of equality. This event was called the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom and is considered one of the cornerstone moments in civil rights history. It was at this event that Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his historic "I Have a Dream" speech and further supplanted the civil rights movement as one of the most important movements of its time.

Fifty years later the movement's legacy remains strong and in honor of the anniversary, BET and Centric will be broadcasting the commemorative events, live from the Newseum in Washington, D.C., with host Ed Gordon and reporter Melissa Knowles.
Tune in on Saturday, August 24, at 11A/10C to watch 50: The March & The Movement!
