Black Business Month: 10 Black-Owned Restaurants To Experience

In honor of National Black Business Month, here is a list of Black-owned restaurants you should visit.

The value of entrepreneurship has always been a major influence within the Black community, making it a crucial contributor to our economy.

August is National Black Business Month and recognizing Black-owned businesses is very important. This month's history can be traced to 2004 when engineer Frederick E. Jordan partnered with the president and executive editor of the scholarly publishing company eAccess Corp John William Templeton to create this annual event after facing major obstacles.

The duo's mission was to “drive the policy agenda affecting the 2.6 million African American businesses, to highlight and empower Black business owners all over, given the unique challenges faced by minority business owners. This included Jordan’s “personal experience of struggling to gain financial support and funding when he started his business in San Francisco in 1969.”

Here are 10 Black-owned restaurants throughout the U.S. that you should support whenever you're in the area.
