Iman Shumpert Joins Colin Kaepernick's National Anthem Protest
Colin Kaepernick’s national anthem protest just got its own official theme song - and surprisingly enough, it’s not from a rapper but from a fellow athlete.
Cleveland Cavaliers guard Iman Shumpert has taken his support of Kaepernick’s protest movement to a new level, not only by kneeling with him in solidarity before games to help keep the conversation and movement going strong, but also by rapping about it.
Releasing a track titled, “His Story,” Iman Shumpert raps, “you best believe I’m going to take me a knee for the anthem.”
The new protest song, produced by Ca$h Clay, has already racked up an impressive 10,000 plays and counting, with many fans commenting they are impressed and surprised by Shumpert’s rapping.
Many athletes, including Brandon Marshall of the Denver Broncos and Megan Rapinoeof the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team, have spoken up in support of Colin Kaepernick and have followed his lead by not participate by standing during the national anthem.
