Something Terrible Happened to the First Person to Sue Flint Over Water

Sasha Avona Bell's story is raising some concerns.

Sasha Avonna Bell, the brave 19-year-old Flint resident who was among the first to file a lawsuit in connection to the Flint Water Crisis has been identified as a victim of a shooting that took place earlier this week. Her death comes just days after the Flint water plant foreman was also found dead.

Bell filed the original lawsuit that stated that her 1-year-old suffers from the effects of lead poisoning because of contaminated water in Flint. Her lawsuit named six different companies and three current and former government employees, alleging that the water crisis was a result of them not taking necessary measures to ensure safe drinking water.

Bell's body was found on Tuesday, along with another victim. MLIVE reported that while Bell's 1-year-old son was present, and he was found unharmed.

A suspect has been taken into custody but no charges have been reported.

Bell's attorney, Corey M. Stern, who is handling 64 lawsuits on behalf of 144 children who are said to be effected by Flint's contaminated water, described Bell as "a lovely young woman" who cared "deeply" for her family. He said, "Her tragic and senseless death has created a void in the lives of so many people that loved her. Hopefully her child will be lifted up by the love and support from everyone who cared deeply for Sasha."

Her death came just two days after Flint Water Plant foreman, Matthew McFarland, was found dead in his Michigan home. The cause of death is unknown.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help pay for funeral costs for Bell.
