[Watch] Cellphone Video Shows Man Attacking An Officer Making an Arrest

Would you risk your freedom to help a friend?

How far would you go to risk your own freedom in order to save a friend?

That is a question one must often ask before getting involved with police matters, and in this situation, the end result might have those involved regretting their involvement.

In recent cellphone footage, a group of bystanders were caught on film attacking a Nashville police officer as he struggles with a man that was suspected of assaulting a woman.

The video surfaced over the weekend, detailing the attack on police officer Matthew Cammarn. He suffered a head injury as part of the attack but was released from the hospital earlier this past week.

Essentially what happened was 22-year-old Brian Shannon allegedly assaulted a woman and the officer approached him to confront him and look into the situation, when the fight broke out.

As the crowd got involved, Shannon took advantage of the chaos to flee the scene, and was later apprehended.

As reported, a 17-year-old was also charged with assault as part of the altercation and crowd's reaction.

The attack marks the second attack on police in Nashville in the same week and mayor Megan Berry commented on the issue at hand, saying police “deserve to be treated with dignity and respect and that did not happen this week.”

Check out the shocking footage below.
