[Video] Young Black Girl Getting Harassed at Trump Rally Will Break Your Heart
As Republican front-runner Donald Trump becomes more confident in his bid for the White House, so too are his supporters — especially the unapologetically racist ones. The excitement around Trump, clearly, started to take the form of violent and racist attacks against Black people who attend his rallies.
On Tuesday, in Louisville, Kentucky, Trump supporters forcibly removed a young Black woman named Shiya Nwanguma from the rally. The move goes far beyond just racism, and appears to be downright criminal.
Leading up to the assault, several large groups of protesters were in attendance holding up signs, which were quickly being snatched away by Trump supporters, many of whom openly belong to well-documented hate groups such as the Traditionalist Worker Party.
You can see one of the party’s leaders, Matthew Heimbach, in a video of the assault against Nwanguma. He's believed to be the one in the red “Make America Great Again,” hat who repeatedly shoved and screamed profanities in the teenage girl’s face.
As the video progresses, it appears that people begin to shove the young woman back and forth, simply for the fun of it. And in the entire video, not one person in the all-white crowd offers a hand of protection for the University of Louisville student in a situation that was clearly out of control.
Following the rally, Nwanguma shared her experience in video that she later posted to Facebook. “I was called a n***** and a c*** and got kicked out. They were pushing and shoving at me, cursing at me, yelling at me, called me every name in the book. They were disgusting and dangerous.”
Many have since taken to Twitter to voice their support for Nwanguma’s bravery in the face of terrifying, violent racism.
Many other protesters shared accounts of their own verbal and physical abuse at the hand of the Trump supporters. Chanelle Helm, another protester at the rally, said that she and others were spat on and cursed at. She recounted one disturbing chant that was led by white supremacists, “You’re scum, your time will come. You’re scum, your time will come.”
It is now becoming clear the Donald Trump is running a deeply distressing campaign that is giving a voice to the most hateful and disgusting people that call America home. As Shaun King of the New York Daily News said, “Its only a matter of time before someone gets killed at future events.”
Wendy Williams recently use a portion of her show to discuss Donald Trump, remarking on when Pope Francis brought Trump’s faith into question.
