Deaths of Virginia Journalists Ruled Homicide
WDBJ-TV reporter Alison Parker and cameraman Adam Ward both suffered gunshot wounds to the head, according to Virginia medical officials, AP reports. The two journalists were fatally shot during a live television broadcast by former colleague Vester Lee Flanagan II.
Their deaths were ruled as homicides on Friday by a medical examiner in Roanoke, Va. More specifically, Parker was shot in the head and chest. Ward was struck in the head and torso.
Flanagan filmed himself killing the victims and posted the video on a social media account before later dying at a hospital after shooting himself.
Flanagan's family has apologized for the killings of the two on-air personalities at WDBJ television station in Roanoke, Va.
“It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness we express our deepest condolences to the families of Alison Parker and Adam Ward,” Amber Bowen, a representative for Flanagan’s family, said in a statement. “
