Chicago Gun Violence: 4 Dead, 30 Wounded This Past Weekend
Gun violence in the Windy City this past weekend left four people dead and 30 wounded. The most recent shooting happened Sunday morning in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
A 34-year-old woman and a man in his 20s were walking when a gunman exited a vehicle and opened fire shooting them several times. Both victims, who have not been identified, were taken to the Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where they were declared dead.
Luis A. Perez, 43, was shot dead Sunday morning in the Little Village neighborhood. He was struck in the head and pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities. Police believe the shooting was gang related.
Another man, Courtney Jackson, 36, was shot while sitting in a vehicle Friday night in the West Side Humboldt Park neighborhood. Jackson was struck in the chest and died early Saturday after being taken to an area hospital.
There has been 90 homicides because of gun violence in Chicago so far in 2015, according to data collected by Red Eye Chicago homicides tracker.
