Black teachers to receive equal pay under Maryland court case ruling.

<p>The <a href="http://www.naacp.org/" target="_blank">NAACP</a> wins the landmark case, <a href="http://www.jstor.org/pss/2294882" target="_blank"><i>Gibbs v. Board of Education</i></a>, against the state of Maryland, ensuring that white and Black teachers are paid equally. The case was one of a succession that would eventually help extend the protection of African-Americans under the U.S. Constitution.</p>
