Has Dr. Dre Signed Up for a Starring Role on TV?
Our television screens may be blessed in the near future with the likes of Dr. Dre.
Apple is rumored to be creating their first-ever original series and while, as Hollywood Reporter reports, the scripted series is still “top secret,” Dre’s name came up more than a couple times.
As reported, Dr. Dre is set to not only star in the series, but also has signed on to executive produce. The series is rumored to be titled Vital Signs, and is “billed as semi-autobiographical, with each episode focusing on a different emotion and how Dre’s character deals with it.”
Definitely not the making of a hit comedy show, the show is said to feature six half-hour episodes that will have “no shortage of violence and sex,” with “at least one orgy scene,” that reportedly Dre’s wife, Nicole Young, was on set to witness the filming of. Awkward?
Vital Signs could mark a new era for Apple, who has experimented with video on its AppleMusic service in the past, such as through streaming Taylor Swift in concert and a visual component of DJ Khaled’s radio show. This series, however, would mark its first real investment in scripted television.
After executive producing blockbuster hit Straight Outta Compton, a foray into television is right in Dre’s wheelhouse, and the interesting choice to go with a dark drama sounds like a recipe for a sinister and incredible soundtrack.
