BET.com Exclusive: Lalah Hathaway and Snoop Dogg Reveal Powerful Message In 'Ghetto Boy' Video

Snoop proves he still has it with this one.

Snoop Dogg recently announced he’s boycotting the Oscars because of its lack of diversity. It’s that message that continues to ring true, especially as a part of Lalah Hathaway’s latest visual.

Donny’s daugher definitely brings it with this one as she and the Long Beach, California native present a harsher but real side of life with the video for "Ghetto Boy”. The Hakim Franc-directed visual reveals something most don’t see everyday, but it’s representative of what’s really happening in the shadow of society.

“CNN another black brother dead," Snoop raps poignantly on the track’s opening verse. "Feet to the pedal, life don’t matter when you born in the ghetto, settle, compassion / gang sign flashin’, neighborhood clashin’, broad day blastin’ / killin’ the youth is a fashion and they wonder why we marchin’ /  like in the ‘60s with Malcolm [X] and Martin [Luther King Jr.].”

The single for "Ghetto Boy" features Robert Glasper in addition to Snoop and was produced by Terrace Martin. Lalah Hathaway was featured on three different songs from Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly album. She also released her first live album with Lalah Hathaway Live in October of last year.
