50 Cent Accuses Fox's Empire of Copying Power

Rapper calls out Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard.

Fox’s new drama Empire looks very familiar to 50 Cent.

The rapper claims the Fox show stole the marketing scheme from his show, Power, premiering its second season on Starz next summer.

Fif is the executive producer of Power and he’s apparently noticed so many similarities that he had to call them out. In an Instagram post promoting the return of Power, the 39-year-old New Yorker didn’t hesitate to name Empire stars Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard. “POWER Season 2 is unbelievably good trust me, I have the best writers and show runner. I like Terrence howard and Taraji Henson. I don't like that They would copy the Marketing,” he wrote along with a trailer for Power.

Neither star responded to the G-Unit honcho, although they may not be the right targets in this case. Henson and Howard aren’t actually responsible for coming up with a marketing plan (or budget) for the Lee Daniels series, that task would likely fall on the network.

However, even if the promos share a resemblance, 50 Cent can rest assured that Empire and Power have different plots. Power is about a drug dealer doubling as a nightclub owner while Empire is a family drama centered around a music mogul.

Empire debuts on Fox, Jan. 7.
