K. Michelle's Rebellious Soul Album Turned Into a Musical
K. Michelle is starring in her own special on to television later this month. The Love & Hip Hop: New York star's debut album will air as the theatrical production Rebellious Soul: K Michelle the Musical.
Directed by Golden Globe-nominated actor Idris Elba, the 30-minute "hip hopera" captures the "lust, love, heartache, and redemption" story of a woman trying to break from the cycle of bad romance, only it's not so easy. The past comes back to haunt her when she catches her boyfriend in a lie.
Featured in the musical are nine of songs from Michelle's debut including, "When I Get a Man, "Hate on Her," "V.S.O.P." and "Can't Raise a Man."
Michelle's gold-selling LP debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip Hop Album charts and No. 2 on the Top 200.
Rebellious Soul: K Michelle the Musical airs on VH1 Aug. 19.
