Beyoncé and Jay Z Are On the Run to HBO
If you won't be able to attend the biggest tour of the summer, don't sweat it, as the most powerful couple in music is bringing their co-headlining On the Run stadium tour to HBO this September.
Michael Lombardo, president of HBO Programming, announced Thursday that Beyoncé and Jay Z will officially air their Stade de France show in Paris exclusively on the network.
The show will tape on September 12 and 13, the only international dates of the tour. The set list consists of 40 songs comprised of the power couple's collaborative cuts like "Young Forever" and "Drunk in Love," as well as their solo tracks including "Yoncé" and "Izzo (H.O.V.A.)." A press release issued by the network dished out more details on the special:
"This is a major musical event that belongs on HBO," the statement read. "It's going to be a night to remember."
This is not the first time that the couple has partnered with HBO; both have worked with the network in individual capacities. In February 2013, Beyoncé aired her feature documentary Life Is But a Dream; and in August 2013, Jay Z premiered Picasso Baby: A Performance Art Film on the network. Currently, Bey is appearing in a 10-episode mini-series titled Beyoncé X10, where the network debuts a new performance from her highly grossing Mrs. Carter Show World Tour each week.
Also set to air exclusively on HBO is Bessie, where Queen Latifah portrays legendary blues singer Bessie Smith, reported the Associated Press. The movie is written and directed by filmmaker Dee Rees, and is currently in production in Atlanta. Other notable faces who star in the film are Michael K. Williams, Khandi Alexander and Mo'Nique.
