Queen Latifah to Sing "America the Beautiful" at Super Bowl

The Queen will perform during pre-game show.

Queen Latifah is coming home to New Jersey for the Super Bowl.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the 43-year-old will sing "America the Beautiful" at Super Bowl XVIII's pre-game show at Met Life Stadium in East Rutherford, Sunday (Feb. 2).

Latifah, born in Newark, will precede opera singer Renee Fleming, who is set to perform the national anthem. The pre-game show airs ahead of kick-off of the championship game between the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks.

Bruno Mars, fresh off his Best Male Pop Vocal Grammy win last Sunday (Jan. 26), will hold down the halftime festivities. The Red Hot Chili Peppers will join the singer.

Like Mars, Latifah also made Grammy headlines by officiating the wedding ceremonies of 33 couples.

The historic moment, which featured nuptials of same-sex partners, went down during a Macklemore & Ryan Lewis performance of their hit single "Same Love." Latifah was sworn in as a temporary commissioner by the state of California to make the televised nuptials legal.
