Flavor Flav's mother, Anna Drayton, passed away on New Year's Eve, the Public Enemy hype man revealed on Twitter the same day.

"Hey everybody I just lost my mother Anna Drayton this morning new years eve she passed away and I'm gonna miss her. She lived good a good life," Flav tweeted Tuesday (Dec. 31) afternoon. "Thank you to everyone that's sending me blessings about my Momz," he continued. "I appreaceate [sic] you all of you so much from me and my family."

No other information behind her death has been released.

A similar announcement was posted on Public Enemy's Facebook page, asking that fans "keep the family in your thoughts and prayers."

Other condolences and tributes came from Salt-N-Pepa, Bootsy Collins and Full Force member Lou "Bowlegged Lou" George, who penned a heartfelt message on Facebook. "On behalf of Full Force, we would like to send prayers of condolences to our good friend William Drayton aka Flavor Flav & his family on the passing of his beloved mother Anna who passed on New Year's Eve," George wrote. "She was a wonderful & sweet person who is now up in heaven wearing Gods wings. A few weeks ago we were in the studio working on something special with Flav. He is a great guy & great son."

Flav, born William Drayton Jr., credits his mother as an inspiration and support system. The two showcased their bond in a 2008 People.com interview where Flav told her, "I really wanna thank you for putting your all into me."
