Hopsin Explains Kanye West Diss
Hopsin's got his pupils fixated on the rap game and he's not letting up. In an exclusive video chat with BET.com, the L.A.-bred rapper ranks his Top 5 Best and Worst MCs and then explains in great detail his Kanye West jab on "Hop Is Back," the lead single from his recently released third studio album, Knock Madness.
"I'm a fan of Kanye," Hopsin told BET.com. "... I still got love for the dude, he's inspired me in some ways. It's not like 'F--k Kanye,' but I have opinions. The Yeezus album was f---ing horrible to me," he said.
Hopsin added that if creativity were a clock, 'Ye's gone all the way around and is starting back at the beginning again, and it's not grabbing his attention. "Some people are like, 'Nah, but that's Kanye, he's being creative. He wanted it to sound like that' .... Nah, dude, it's wack. I don't care what he did with the little synthesizer ... I hear it the first time, it doesn't do nothing for me."
The Cali rapper also took [playful] aim at Kendrick Lamar's height on the song (spitting, "Kendrick took the bar and raised it up higher for MCs/ Unfortunately the little n---a's like 4 foot 3, the guy's a f---in' midget"); and has called out Rick Ross, Drake and Lupe Fiasco in previous lyrics.
But he's not a hater. Hopsin didn't hesitate to go all around the nation for diversity in his Top 5 picks, including Crooked I and Big L.
Check the vid to see who else made his Top 5 list and who, to him, are the "wackest" rappers out right now.
