UPDATE: Chris Brown Enters Rehab for Anger Management

Singer seeks help to correct "past and recent behavior."

UPDATE:

Chris Brown could reamin in rehab until 2014, TMZ reports. "The rehab facility has been told to take him [Brown] apart and put him back togther," an insider told the site.

No specific amount of time has been outlined for his treatment, but Brown is reportedly willing to stay as long as three months, sources say.

It is unclear how the rehab stint will affect his forthcoming release X, due out Nov. 19.

Chris Brown is taking a timeout from music to focus on personal issues.

A rep for the singer confirmed to E! News that the Grammy Award-winning singer has checked himself into a rehabilitation facility in Malibu to receive anger management care.

"His goal is to gain focus and insight into his past and recent behavior, enabling him to continue the pursuit of his life and his career from a healthier vantage point," read a statement from Brown's camp.

After his release from a Washington D.C. jail on Monday (Oct. 28), stemming from his arrest for a misdemeanor assault, Brown flew back to Los Angeles to meet with his attorney Mark Geragos, and reportedly with L.A. County Probation officials. Then the "Fine China" singer was dropped off at a Malibu rehab facility by Geragos.

Brown's girlfriend Karrueche Tran and his mother were also there to support.

There is no word on how long the star will remain in rehab, but he is due back in a D.C. court on Nov. 25 to fight the assault charge for the weekend fight outside the W Hotel. He is facing 180 days in jail and a $1,000 fine if convicted. In addition, Brown is still on probation for the 2009 assault of then-girlfriend Rihanna, and a violation of his probation would lead to as much as four years in jail.
