Wyclef Jean: There Is No Collab With Amanda Bynes
Despite media reports Wyclef Jean's reps told TMZ that he has "no intention" of working with Amanda Bynes.
Bynes, most popularly known as an actress, has been making headlines recently for erratic behavior, including cyber-bully Twitter taunts directed towards Rihanna, Drake and Kid Cudi (to whom she apologized). She's also made news for her Twitter announcements that she is considering music to be the "next chapter" in her career. Word spread from there that she was plotting a collaboration with the three-time Grammy-winning, singing, song-writing, guitar-playing rapper.
Label CEO Daniel Herman of Chinga Chang Records chimed in on the news, saying that he offered her a deal. "She's phenomenal," he said, adding that he was "beyond confident" that she'd sign with him and his New York-based company, which boasts Kool G Rap as one of its signees.
Herman also told E! News that Bynes really wants to tour; that the album "is going to shock the world;" and that Wyclef and Bynes had a meeting scheduled for this past Monday (Jun. 17). Though the meeting didn't happen, he said, 'Clef had been "receptive" in their talks.
Just hours ago, however, Bynes denied that she's even spoken with Herman. "I never spoke to anyone at Chinga Changa Records," she tweeted. "I got an offer for a bigger record deal that I'm taking as soon I get my surgeries!" (She then went on to describe that she's had a birth defect that caused webbing in her eyes, which she's getting removed.)
Now, on the Chinga Chang website, there is an announcement of an Amanda Bynes diss song by a new artist named Sour Patch Kid.
Meanwhile, Bynes did confirm that she is interested in touring. "I'm so looking forward to recording my album and going on tour! I can't wait to see you all at my concerts," she tweeted.
Wyclef is busy promoting his April Showers project. His latest stop was at NYC's famed BB King's last night (Jun. 19), where he brought out surprise guests Uncle Murda, Troy Ave and Waka Flocka Flame, who, interestingly enough, has been one of Bynes' few hip hop supporters, tweeting her early this morning with a "TurnUP".
