Jay-Z Announces New Album Magna Carta Holy Grail
Jay-Z is set to drop his new album in just a few weeks, the rap mogul announced on Sunday night during Game 5 of the NBA Finals.
Magna Carta Holy Grail will release on July 4, first to Samsung Galaxy users who purchase a special app and then to the general public on July 7. The announcement, which came during a Samsung commercial at halftime, reveals that the mobile phone provider will give free downloads of the album to the first one million users of the app.
Jay describes Magna Carta Holy Grail, his twelfth studio album, as a study of duality. "How do you navigate your way through this whole thing — like success, through failures, through all this — and remain yourself?" he asks. The ad shows the iconic artist in the studio with legendary producers Timbaland, Rick Rubin, Pharrell and Swizz Beatz, revealing a rarely-seen glimpse into his creative process.
Drake, Nas and Justin Timberlake are just some of the artists Hov has collaborated with on the album.
