Snoop Lion Debuts New Single on Conan
By now Snoop Dogg fans have grown accustomed to the hip hop star's transformation into Snoop Lion. The move from rapper to Rastafarian has drawn some harsh criticism and spawned confusion among some, but it has also produced some pretty good music.
The latest reggae-inspired single debuted on the Conan show last night [March 11]. This infectious tune is helping to erase any doubt that Snoop Lion is for real.
The song is titled "No Guns Allowed," and features Drake, who was not at the show to perform his part. The track is a mellow departure from Snoop's usual low-rider friendly street anthems.
It's a bold move for the "Murder Was the Case" rapper, who once hailed as one of the West Coast's king of Gangsta Rap.
The new and more peaceful Snoop Lion will be releasing his latest album, the aptly titled Reincarnated, on April 23. The accompanying documentary of the same name, which follows Snoop on his spiritual journey to Jamaica, will hit theaters nationwide this Friday, March 15.
