Nicki Minaj and Jennifer Lopez Lock Horns on American Idol

Nicki Minaj tells Jennifer Lopez to make room for her on the judge’s panel.

Two fierce female forces collided on stage on American Idol last night, when guest star Nicki Minaj met judge Jennifer Lopez.
Minaj was there to perform her new single, "Starships," when she made an on-stage wisecrack about her real hope to one day be on the judge’s panel.
"I was hoping maybe I could come back and be a guest judge," she said before adding: "J-Lo, can you scoot over a little bit?"
Lopez, a curvaceous pop diva of a different generation, politely declined the suggestion.
"I don't know if there's enough room for both of us," she replied.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter backstage, Minaj joked about the interaction.
"She didn't seem to be having it but she gonna have it!" she said. "No, actually, I love J-Lo. I love what she's done for pop culture. I have nothing but respect for her and we were just joking around. I'm sure I'll have lots of fun with them when I'm guest judging."
Minaj will release her sophomore album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, on Tuesday. Though she loves reality singing competition shows and wants to guest judge on one, the Young Money star said a permanent gig behind the table just isn't in the cards right now.
"Something like American Idol, it's iconic and has been around for so long and created so many stars," Minaj said. "I would love to (guest judge) but as far as sitting down every week, I can't."

The Young Money MC is currently in the midst of promoting her sophomore album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, which is set for release April 3.
