Nicki Minaj Barbie Doll Being Auctioned for Charity

Nicki Minaj Barbie doll being auctioned for charity. The auction will take place Wednesday via Charity Buzz.

After coining the term Barbz to refer to her loyal fans, Nicki Minaj now has an actual Barbie doll to call her very own. Mattel has decided to honor the rap star with a one-of-a-kind doll that will be auctioned off for charity on Wednesday. The plastic version is dressed in the same dreamy pink tulle, pink platform boots and long pink wig that Minaj sports on the cover of her debut album, Pink Friday.

"It's just a one of a kind, limited edition for charity, and so I never thought Mattel would even pay attention to me," Minaj said on the red carpet at Billboard's Women in Music event in New York City on Friday where she received the "Rising Star" award. "For me this is a very major moment, because it just shows that you can come from nothing and still be a force in the main world, a businesswoman, and hopefully a mogul one day. It shows that my Barbz are special, and everyone loves them as much as I love them, so I want to thank them most importantly."

The auction will take place through Charity Buzz on Wednesday as part of the five-day Divine Design event and gala in Los Angeles. Bidding will go through Dec. 19 and start at $1,000 with proceeds going towards Project Angel Food, which gives meals for people affected by HIV/AIDS.

"Barbie is obviously a pop culture icon. She's been in the spotlight for over 50 years, and strikes that chord with girls of all ages in terms of being representative of the times," said Barbie spokeswoman Stefani Yocky. "And Nicki is a big part of pop culture and also huge within the fashion industry, as well as a big Barbie fan.... It's really exciting for us that she's been so generous to allow us to create this one-of-a-kind doll to support such an important cause."
